Japan’s stainless CRC prices soft

It’s reported that the prices of austenitic stainless steel products have remained weak in the Japanese domestic market in the recent two months due to sluggish demand.

At present, the selling prices of 304 grades stainless cold rolled coils (CRC) have fallen by ¥10,000/ton in Tokyo market. However, the selling prices of 430 grades stainless CRC have increased by ¥10,000/ton due to higher chrome ore prices.

It’s known that Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel (NSSC), the largest stainless steel producer in Japan remained its list prices of austenitic stainless steel products flat while hiked the list prices of ferritic products by ¥10,000/ton for May.

However, industry sources that NSSC might cut its list prices for June due to soft demand and weak market condition.
